The Swadian faction Mercs are Knight-Errants, the Nords are Valkyrie, etc. Each faction has one or two Mercs that are found in taverns, don't level into anything, roam around in parties of 4 to 10, and are found in their factions armies. Mercenaries fit into two categories, Faction Mercs and Regular Mercs. Your quest money should be enough to afford a few of them, though you might want to survey several taverns before you spend your money. Nearly every enemy party you'll come across will massacre your'e recruits, so its best to bolster them with mercenaries.
Taverns will at least have two mercenary unit groups for hire.
After you get the money from the quests, head to the tavern. Pick up about ten of the closest recruit units from villages and complete the starting quest arch. The best units in this mod are either in short supply, or take weeks of fighting to level up from faction recruits. With 3-4 points in Path Finding from the get go you'll be able to out run at least three fourths of the enemy parties you'll run across with your army consisting of about twenty unmounted units. The most important stats by far in this mod are Path Finding and Surgery. The downside is that you can't command or keep your own troops, and you can't decide where the Lord goes.Īlternatively, you could read the quick guide I just made and see if the info I listed would help make your early game easier.įirst thing first is character creation. Your character would be added to the Lords retinue as a Major faction recruit, with the opportunity to level up through the Factions troop tree over time. You could always join a lords party as a common soldier. However, as someone who has succeeded in playing this mod to the point of starting my own kingdom multiple times, I guess i'll try to help you in a different way. To answer your question, I don't think there is an easy way to lower the party spawns, you would probably have to change some numbers in the code, and I am not skilled enough to know how to do that properly.
